Most YMCA programmes operate in partnership. We work so much more effectively when we work together.

Whether you are a parent, teacher or social worker, work for another voluntary organisation, represent a local church or business we would love to work with you to improve the lives of vulnerable children, young people and families:…

Youth Work

School Partnerships

Many local YMCA’s work in and with local schools to support vulnerable children and young people. Whether that be through engagement in the classroom delivering aspects of the curriculum or providing after school or out of school activities this is a common partnership for YMCAs.

Many school partnerships focus on providing more intensive support to pupils who are excluded or who struggle to thrive in mainstream school. YMCA’s Aspire mentoring programme works with children from primary schools to support them into high school and Stranraer YMCA’s Play Ranger programme has transformed the playgrounds in local schools through its leadership training.

Mentoring Programme Partnership

YMCA Scotland is the leading provider in Scotland of community mentoring services aimed at supporting vulnerable young people to achieve their fullest potential in life.

There are two distinct mentoring programmes that can be delivered with/by partners.  Each is designed upon clear evidence of what works and has been tested and piloted successfully in local communities..

Plusone™ Mentoring – recognised as one of 25 proven youth justice approaches from across the UK, Plusone™ operates as part of a national franchise to divert high risk young people away from the criminal justice system.  Visit the Plusone website

Aspire Mentoring – designed to operate in a local community Aspire mentors journey with children referred by primary schools to enable them to thrive as they move up into high school. Resources for Aspire can be accessed here but the area is password protected and only available to people that are part of the programme
