As YMCA strives to support vulnerable young people to achieve their greatest potential we are acutely aware of the major influence on longer term healthy development that is delivered throughout the child's early years.
It is an important goal for many YMCAs to engage with families to make the development of children in their early years as healthy and robust as possible. This takes place through a range of programmes from nursery provision to after school care, from parenting support projects to summer activity camps.
All YMCA childcare programmes are registered and inspected by the Care Commission and are fully compliant with the highest standards of child protection. All Scottish YMCAs are also subject to an internal quality standards process called ‘Working Towards Excellence'.
Our staff are trained in childcare and a range of other skills including first aid, additional support needs, food hygiene, child protection etc with supervisors receiving additional training in staff management.
YMCAs across Scotland seek to create an atmosphere for children and young people that supports and encourages them to build confidence and to develop healthy relationships with family, peers and others.
We take the parental responsibility, given to us by our customers, very seriously....
Every child in our care is precious, is to be protected
and kept safe from any harm and to be nurtured and
encouraged at every opportunity.
