YMCA Scotland has been a strong advocate for a focus on prevention within youth work rather than the treatment of ‘so-called’ problem young people. Recent policy and legislation introduced by the Scottish Executive have given cause for increasing concern in terms of this continuum. As part of this debate Peter Crory, National General Secretary of the YMCA in Scotland was asked to contribute an article to the Autumn issue of VIEW, SCVO’s Scottish policy journal.
